Our story

The diversions formed in 2009 as a power rock trio by Ian Wren (Holly St Johnstone), Mike Purnell (Drums 1009-2011) and Greig Archibald (Bass 2009-2010). Born during the frustration of Edinburgh's failed first attempt at building a tram line and the amount of road Diversions :).

A little bored with the dull Edinburgh music scene and everyone playing the same stuff they dared to be a bit different and play a bit more obscure yet powerful songs, which paved the way for a very successful career. 

Throughout the years the band has had many talented musicians. On drums there was Lewis Hutchison (2011-2012 and 2017-2020), Denis Lynch (2012-2014), Ian Bruce (2015-2016). And on bass Billy Shanks (2010-2011) Dave Rosie (2011-2013) who still deps

Bringing us to the band we love today with Holly St Johnstone on vocals and guitar (2009), Bo Linn on keys (2017), Stu-Pendus on bass (2023) and Stan Dinne on drums (2020).
